Selling Your Home in Summer:
Why It's a Great Time and How to Maximize Your Success

Summer is an excellent time to sell your home. The warmer weather and longer days bring more potential buyers into the market, and many families prefer to move during this season to coincide with school holidays. Here’s how to make the most of selling your home in the summer:

Why Sell in Summer?

ONTARIO CAPS 2025 RENT INCREASES AT 2.5%

Starting next year, Ontario landlords can raise rents by up to 2.5%, as per the recent guidelines published by the Ford government. This rate remains consistent with the last two years and is touted as the lowest in the country. Without the cap, the increase would have been 3.1% due to inflation.

In response, Ontario NDP housing critic Jessica Bell highlighted the ongoing housing crisis, criticizing the government's approach. "The Conservatives have had six years to fix the housing crisis, and they’ve failed," she said, pointing out that the current guidelines are insufficient and calling for more meaningful rent control measures.

CANADA DAY 2024

What’s Canada Day? How did it start? Why do we celebrate? What should you do? The Rocca Sisters have you covered!

History of Canada Day

On July 1st, 1867, the British North America Act created Canada, and by the following year a proclamation was signed to request that all Her Majesty’s subjects across Canada celebrate July 1st as the birthday of Canada. Eleven years later in 1879 July became a statutory holiday called Dominion Day. It wasn’t until 1982 that Dominion Day became Canada Day.

Why we are proud to be Canadian.

The name “Canada” comes from the Huron-Iroquois language and means settlement or village. For us, this holds a great deal of meaning. Our family, like most, are 1st generation Canadians. Our Father was…

Canadians Rush to Address Financial Affairs Ahead of New Capital Gains Tax Rules

As Canada braces for significant changes to its capital gains tax, individuals and businesses are scrambling to make financial adjustments before the new rules take effect on June 25, 2024. These upcoming changes, announced in the 2024 budget and solidified by a recent parliamentary vote, have spurred a flurry of last-minute financial planning.

What’s Changing?

The new regulations increase the inclusion rate for taxable capital gains from 50% to 67% for those realizing more than $250,000 in annual capital gains. This means that a greater portion of profits from the sale of assets like stocks or investment properties will be subject to tax if they exceed this…

Happy Father's Day!

As we approach this Father’s Day weekend, it's the perfect time to pause and appreciate the remarkable impact fathers have on our lives. A man of deep faith and respect for his heritage and community, Pat believed in the power of progress, always encouraging us to consider what steps are needed to move forward and to act decisively.

Pat's journey began when he immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1957, setting his sights on creating a prosperous future for his family. He entered the real estate sector and started to build…
