A Father’s Day Tribute to Our Dad, Pat Rocca

Father’s Day is a beautiful reminder to slow down and celebrate the men who love, guide, and support their families in countless ways. For us, it’s a day full of love, memories, and deep gratitude—for our dad, our husbands, and all the incredible fathers out there.

Our dad, Pat Rocca, was a man of great vision and even greater heart. He wasn’t just our father—he was a builder of dreams and communities, especially in Saint John, New Brunswick, where his legacy is deeply rooted. In 2017, on New Brunswick Day, the city honoured him by renaming the North Market Wharf to Pat Rocca Way—a moment of profound pride for our entire family.

That street, Pat Rocca Way, runs through one of the most vibrant and iconic parts of downtown Saint John. It’s home to Market Square, a major project our dad helped bring to life. With its boardwalk, stunning waterfront views, and welcoming energy, it stands as a living tribute to his dedication to the city and its people.

Our dad developed the entire Saint John waterfront with a bold vision for opportunity—not just for business, but for people and communities across New Brunswick and the Maritimes. He believed in the potential of the East Coast and worked tirelessly to turn ideas into lasting landmarks. His legacy is etched into the fabric of the city, but it lives on most deeply in our hearts.

As daughters, we carry his lessons with us every day. And now, as mothers of two children each, and husbands who are devoted fathers themselves, we see the power and importance of fatherhood in a whole new way. Watching our children grow up with strong, loving dads in their lives is a blessing we never take for granted.

So today, on Father’s Day, we want to say:

To the new dads, the experienced dads, the grandfathers, stepdads, and father-figures—thank you.
To the single dads, the fathers who’ve lost children, and the children who’ve lost fathers—our hearts are with you.
And to the dads who are quietly leading their families with strength, kindness, and humour—you are seen, appreciated, and deeply loved.

And most of all, to our dad—thank you for showing us how to dream big, work hard, and always lead with love. Your name may be on a street, but your legacy is in every step we take.
