7 ways to celebrate Earth Day from home this year!
- Eat more plants: It’s no secret that eating a plant-based diet is one of the easiest ways to have a positive impact on the environment.
- Compost: 60% of our landfills are full of organic matter because many people think their food scraps will return to the Earth, but they won’t! Start composting at home!
- Save water: Think about ways in which you can save a little water every day and implement them!
- Documentary watch party: Organize a Netflix Party with your friends and look into streaming one of these eco-documentaries this Earth Day. Our planet, Before the flood, True cost, Plastic ocean, Chasing coral, River blue, Biggest little farm.
- Plant a tree!
- Get the kids involved:
a. Regrow some of your food from scraps: learn how to regrow a vegetable from a scrap!
b. plant veggies/herbs inside or outside and watch them grow
c. Clean Up Plastic in Your Neighbourhood or Local Park
d. Plant Wildflowers and Native Plants - Make a donation: to an organization that works for the planet.
“On April 22nd, Earth Day is celebrated throughout Canada, from coast to coast. Citizens and municipalities are taking action across the country and are developing original initiatives to address environmental issues. Whether by participating in an activity in your community or by making a donation to an environmental organization, everyone can show their commitment to a better planet.” says Valérie Mallamo, Executive Director of Earth Day Canada.
